Coast to Country: Discover the marvels of Cheese, Carool and Cane Sugar Rum
Venue / Depart & Finish: Elements of Byron Resort, Byron Bay
8am – 4:30pm

Hop on the foodie bus and discover the delights in our abundant Northern Rivers backyard. From the luxe Elements of Byron Resort in Byron Bay, we’ll make our way north to Cheeses Loves You in Burringbar and balance our palate with an array of superior Jersey cow’s milk cheeses. With some time to digest, we’ll meander through beautiful countryside to Carool and land at the award-winning Potager Restaurant, where we will indulge in a sumptuous two-course lunch. Making our way back East, we’ll stop by the Tweed River, amongst the lush sugar cane and drink in the delights of the new Husk Distillery, made famous for its Ink Gin. The day finishes back at Elements of Byron Resort for a relaxing unwind, de-brief with your new friends and drink at the bar!

Joining us on the tour is Harvest Festival host, Angela Catterns, and the uber talented food & lifestyle photographer, Nelly LeComte – so get ready to say “cheeeese”! 

8.00am: Meet at Elements of Byron Resort. For those who need caffeine, buy a coffee at Elements before we head off!

8.30am: Bus to leave Elements of Byron and heads north!

9.30 – 11.00am : Cheeses Loves You
Our first stop is ‘Cheeses Loves You’ in the rolling hills of Burringbar where we’ll have a behind-the-scenes peek into the world of artisan cheesemaking. Deb Allard, AKA “the big cheese” will delight us with her knowledge, skills and enthusiasm for everything cheesey!! Visit the dairy, meet some calves and discover varieties of cheese you may have never known while learning how easy it is to make your own.

12:00 – 2:00pm : Potagers Restaurant
For a true paddock to plate experience, we’ll enjoy a 2 course lunch at Potager restaurant, located on a 10 acre farm in the beautiful setting of Carool in the Tweed Valley. Potager is all about giving people great food that is primarily sourced from local artisans and producers. Potager’s doesn’t grow everything they serve, but they serve everything that they grow. Wherever possible they serve organic produce and grass fed meats. They’re about providing people with a relaxed dining experience and strive to deliver excellent service. Come along and taste for yourself why this is one of the hottest new restaurants this side of the border!

2.30 – 3.30pm : Husk Distillers
Enjoy ‘Cocktails in the Field’ and a unique cellar-door experience at the innovative craft rum & gin distiller – Husk Distillers. Be one of the first in the region to see, hear, smell and taste the workings of a real live ‘paddock to bottle’ distillery making gin and rum from their beautiful sugarcane plantation in Tumbulgum.  

4.15pm : Elements of Byron Resort
The day ends back at Elements of Byron for a relaxing unwind, de-brief with your new friends and drink at the bar!
