Farms and Feasting: Big Harvest Food Discovery Day
Bus tour of local farms in the ‘Rainbow Region’ including Corndale and Bexhill.
8.30am – 12.30pm

Come along and discover some of the finest local producers in the “Rainbow Region”. This farmgate tour begins in picturesque Clunes where we’ll meet and enjoy the sunshine before we prepare for a range of Sunday strolls through local farms. Along with our Harvest Festival host, Angela Catterns, we’ll be taking in locally grown indigenous bush foods, limes, sheep, chickens, veggies and garlic – we’re getting hands-on at the source, tantalising our culinary senses.

8.30am: Meet at the Clunes Café before we head off.

9am: Bus departs from Clunes Bus Stop (across road from Clunes Cafe & Shop).

9.15am – 10am : Boorabee Dorper Sheep Stud
At our first stop, we will visit one of our region’s finest lamb producers, in the rolling green pastures of Bexhill. At Boorabee Dorper Sheep Stud, the lambs are raised in a stress-free environment under sustainable organic farming principals. Learn how sheep are raised on a special diet of natural grasses and high protein pasture program which includes cloves, plantain and chicory.

10.30 – 11.15am : First Food Co Farm
Next we visit a very special bush foods farm in Corndale. Dale Chapman – chef, lecturer and First Food Co’s Director – will join our tour and we’ll experience, taste and learn about some of the farms’ indigenous bush foods. In particular, we’ll be introduced to the rainforest plant Davidson Plum, or Ooray its traditional name, and enjoy some tasty treats made with this wonderful fruit. First Food Co. is a proudly Aboriginal owned company supplying authentic Indigenous produce to chefs and cooks, in food service and at home across Australia and internationally.

11.30 – 12.15pm : Boomerang Creek Farm
Our final visit for the morning will be to the enterprising Boomerang Creek Farm where we will be offered some very special farm secrets on how to grow the tastiest biodynamic garlic & vegetables from the Garlic Guru himself, Will Cotterill! Delight over their handcrafted products, heritage breed chickens and farm fresh eggs!

12.30pm:  Tour finishes and will drop off at Clunes Shop / Hall.
